Around the dinner table this Thanksgiving
Hi guys, happy Wednesday!
I know we usually meet on Fridays. But I couldn’t let the opportunity slide to celebrate one of my favorite seasonal decor moments: the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time to get together with friends and family — it almost feels like a rehearsal for Christmas and New Year celebrations, doesn’t it? But, at the same time, it’s a reminder that there’s still so much to enjoy before December comes around. You all know how much I love fall (and everything orange)! And, as an interior designer, I’ve always believed that nature gives us all the “clues” we need on how to decorate our home throughout the year. So in the spirit of the season, here are some fun and fast ideas to bring fall right onto your Thanksgiving table today...
Keep the fire burning
A fiery color palette rich with yellow-golds, oranges, reds and browns will give your guests the warm and fuzzes, even without a fireplace crackling in the background! Humans are biologically wired to gather around a fire, so whenever we encounter these colors we are fast-tracked to our very own happy place… And is there any better vibe for your Thanksgiving table?
Just look to the fallen leaves for color inspiration!
Tip: don’t be afraid to mix and match colors from your fiery palette in your cutlery and crockery. You want your table to give off a cozy, homely vibe — so not everything has to match!

Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere!
Halloween may be over, but pumpkins are still an integral part of the Thanksgiving table.
Pumpkins have a distinctive and recognizable shape, so you can use them in a range of colors — not just orange! — and they’ll still look great. Mix up the sizes as well; small pumpkins would make perfect candle holders and look great in place settings, for example.
Pumpkins work just as well in white, so get painting!

A place for plaids
Plaid, tartan and gingham: these all evoke a relaxed, chic style that’s very season-appropriate. They’re usually quite easy to find in warm colors like oranges and browns but don’t be afraid to experiment with quirkier hues, too. Use different variations of the patterns for your table run and your guests’ serviettes to create a bold geometrical contrast.

Use nature’s bounty
November may not be the month most flowers bloom (and the apple harvest is over by now) but Mother Nature still has a lot to give us. So for your Thanksgiving table, look no further than winter berries, dried flowers or leaves, pine cones, acorns or even tree branches and evergreens.
(Psst: this decor tip is that it can serve you well during Christmas too!)
